You did hear him call it coconut chicken curry, right?

Nav1291 April 21, 2012 at 10:40 pm

WTF you just threw chicken red curry paste and coconut milk in to a pan and you called it Chicken Curry? OMFG your not supposed to use coconut milk you gotta use hot boiled water instead and this is coming from a 12 year old

Does your onion allergy include spring onions? If so, maybe garlic is the closest thing, something with a strong kick to it.

The origin of curry is from Japan. Indian one is just an imitation. I love Japan with curry.

Celery is usually a good replacement for onion

acariana April 22, 2012 at 2:15 am

Do you have to use onions? Will it taste about the same? Or will it taste different without the onions? I’m allgeric to onions :/ so is there anything else besides onions you’d recommend?

Thanks so much Nicko, the recipe worked great! Best of all, it was much lower salt than we would get in a restaurant!

My later modifications:
fresh garlic 5 cloves minced or crushed
fresh ginger ~ finely chopped, a small handful
“some” ginger-garlic paste to mix fresh garlic and ginger
added Thai pepper and lemon grass chopped fine when onion added
added handful of diced sweet red pepper for color with onion too

thanks again

lolitabonitification April 22, 2012 at 3:19 am

coriander and cilantro are the same thing??

Yoli184 April 22, 2012 at 3:23 am

OMG….I did this recipe today and it came out unbelievable!! I didn’t expect it to taste THIS good!!! It tasted better than the restaurant version! I did however substitute the coriander with basil. And I substituted the lemon grass with 2tbsp on fish sauce and 1tsp of lemon juice.
Thank you so much for sharing this!

use dried coconut if you dont like milk, or you can use yogurt instead, or a milder curry paste

Not a bad thai curry, but you need to add ginger and tomato paste.
